I have contributed to two journal articles about childhood anxiety:
I am a chartered member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) (Membership
Number PYL33326) and the British Psychological Society (BPS) (Membership Number
449663).
I’m Dr Jenny Draisey, a Clinical Psychologist based in Guildford, Surrey. I specialise in
supporting children who experience anxiety — whether that’s worries about school, friendships,
separation or perfectionism.
Many of the families I meet describe feeling stuck — their child has many wonderful qualities,
but their worries and anxiety are taking over daily life. We often find that factors such as early
experience or neurodiversity play a large part in a child’s anxiety about the world. Together, we
work to understand what is keeping your child’s anxiety going and help your child, and you,
learn tools to manage it more confidently.
Anxiety can affect the whole family, so my approach is warm, practical, and collaborative. I take
time to understand not only your child’s thoughts and feelings but also their environment —
including their home, school, friendships, and routines.
I use evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Compassion-Focused
Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I also draw from characteristics of
Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Systemic
Therapy. This just means that I tailor the work to the needs of each family, and work step by
step to reduce avoidance, build resilience, and help your child face their fears in manageable
ways.
For parents, I offer practical guidance to help you respond to anxiety effectively. My aim is that
you leave sessions with confidence and clear strategies to support your child at home.

I completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Royal Holloway, University of London, and

the development and maintenance of anxiety in children.

Services (CAMHS) and specialist education settings.
