I am passionate about therapy being truly attentive and responsive to you. I tailor therapy and the pace of it to meet your goals. Together, we’ll explore your experiences, make sense of how difficulties developed and identify the patterns that keep you feeling stuck or overwhelmed. I support you to develop new ways of responding so you can feel more grounded, less reactive and more able to make choices that reflect who you truly are. As a yoga teacher, I also integrate body-based awareness and yoga psychology for clients who also share this interest.
I work individually with adults, specialising in trauma therapy and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). I support people living with the lasting effects of difficult or overwhelming life experiences, including adverse childhood experiences or times when you’ve felt unsafe, unseen or had to cope alone.
Trauma can show up in many ways e.g. anxiety, feeling on edge, avoiding certain people or situations, shutting down emotionally, struggling with boundaries or carrying a sense of shame or self-blame.
I use evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help you process the root of your difficulties and learn new ways of responding. Where helpful, I draw on principles from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Polyvagal Theory to support emotional regulation, nervous system awareness and self-compassion.
CBT helps you understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and behaviours. It supports you to recognise unhelpful patterns, develop more balanced perspectives and respond in ways that feel more manageable. CBT can be helpful if you want practical tools to change how you are feeling.
EMDR is a trauma-focused therapy that uses bilateral stimulation (e.g. eye movements) while recalling distressing memories. This process helps your brain and body reprocess the memory so that it feels less overwhelming and disturbing. EMDR can be helpful for PTSD, childhood trauma or any past experiences that continue to affect how you feel, think or respond in the present.
